Travel around the World - Day 1

The stage is set—the world awaits, and my backpack is my faithful companion. Thrilled, excited, and a tad apprehensive, I stand on the precipice of adventure. The first leg of my journey promises complexity: four countries in one day, spanning three continents:

JFK -> LHR -> AMS -> IST -> TBS

Virgin Atlantic flight VS46 launches me from JFK. But before the skies embrace me, a pit stop awaits—the Amex Centurion Lounge. London, with its timeless elegance, cradles me briefly. The buzz of Heathrow Airport fades as I step into the lounge. Plush chairs invite weary souls, and the aroma of freshly brewed coffee dances in the air. I sip, savoring the warmth, and let the world blur outside the floor-to-ceiling windows.

My trusty Blue Cotopaxi backpack rests nearby, ready for the next leg of this whirlwind journey. Amsterdam awaits—the city of canals, bicycles, and secrets whispered by raindrops. As the clock ticks toward departure, I weave through the terminal, glimpsing fellow travelers lost in their own stories.

Amsterdam—the city of canals, tulips, and secrets whispered by raindrops. I touch down at 12:30 PM, exhaustion clinging to my bones. Yet, my flight to Istanbul won’t depart until 11:30 PM. Undeterred, I board the train connecting the city, eager to explore even for a fleeting moment. The Dutch capital beckons.

At the train station, a majestic restaurant awaits, Le Grand Cafe Restaurant 1e klas. A Chicken Schnitzel graces my plate—a taste of sustenance and adventure. Rain kisses my face as I wander, and Amsterdam’s streets echo with familiarity. Venice, my hometown, peeks through the mist, a kindred spirit across borders. Seated on a bench near the Van Gogh Museum, I realize I’m not at my best. A decision brews: cut short my return to the airport.

Turkish Airways will become my lifeline, whisking me toward Tbilisi. Hours will blur—a floor, an uncomfortable chair—but the anticipation of Georgia’s embrace will keep me going. And then, a glimmer of chance—an upgrade on my Istanbul-to-Tbilisi flight. Three hours of lie-flat luxury await, a lavish breakfast served amidst the clouds.

The dusk of the second day of this wonderful trip arise, see you tomorrow.

Yours,
Giuseppe
